Belvoir Life - Your Guide to the Vale of Belvoir

The Vale of Belvoir is a lowland area of the East Midlands of England, mostly within the boundaries of Leicestershire but also extending into the Rushcliffe district of Nottinghamshire. To the North it runs to the A46 and A52. To the South the Harby Hills form a natural escarpment which run northeast from Long Clawson To Grantham.

The Vale of Belvoir contains the villages of Long Clawson, Colston Bassett and Cropwell Bishop which produce the world famous Stilton cheese and gets its name from the beautiful view from Belvoir Castle, which dates back to Norman England.

Like any rural part of Great Britain, the businesses in the Vale are diverse. Hospitality plays an important role, with excellent pubs and guest houses aplenty, but as you would expect there is huge variety. Belvoir Life has pages which list all the businesses of a certain type, as well as lists of businesses in particular villages.

Vale of Belvoir Map

The area known as the Vale of Belvoir is not well defined but is generally accepted to  include the lowland (vale) bordered by Melton Mowbray in the South West corner, up to the A46 (the Roman Fosse Way) South of Nottingham. It then extends in a North Easterly direction towards Lincoln in the North West, bordered by the Belvoir Ridge (Harby Hills) to the South and the A46 to the North.

For the purposes of this website the area included by the "Vale" may include villages and businesses on the periphery of the geographical area, especially if they provide a valuable local service.

The map below is not intended to be a definitive area, more a general idea of what the residents of the Vale accept it to be.
